SIGNED Copy.beige cloth boards with dark brown titles to spine and blind stamped title to front board. 312pp. B/W Photo. frontis + 10 other plts as expected. Laid on plt. being a sketch of Mr Dean's House Port Cooper Plain to dust jacket. An important and scarce work being letters of founder settlers to Canterbury New Zealand the Dean family from Ayrshire Scotland. Forward by Major A.J.D.Acland and preface by John Deans of Kirkstyle N.Z. dated Nov 1937. ( Although not stated - taken to be a descendant) I have ascribed the publication date as being 1938 although the book is undated. The book is inscribed in ink to ffep With my compliments John Deans and dated 6.3.39. There is also a hand written note laid in loose at the illust at p273 Riccarton House - giving details of the original house forming part of the property as it was at time of publication and initalled JD. VG+/VG (two small nicks - 0f 3mm approx top rear near spine fold. Minor rubbing to top edges. A few liquid splashes to spine.No other noteable defects to book or jacket. The latter is now in a proprietary protective wrapper). PLS See our images
