Plain slate blue end papers, applied two colour head and tailbands. (All contemporaneous with binder's paper label to top front paste down) xvi +868pp. Text of substantive work printed in two columns. Frontis Portrait of Napoleon by Steuben and illustrated title page by Turner from the earlier edition "Life of Napoleon Buenaparte by Sir Walter Scott". The Full title page then follows as LIFE OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE. WITH A PRELIMINARY VIEW OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. The book being Vol II of Black's edition of Scott''s Miscellaneous Prose Works and complete in itself containing the corrections and additional notes by Scott since the original 9 volume 1st Edition of 1827. 21 Further steel engraved plates (20 by T.M.W.Turner and Full Portrait of Napoleon by J.Isabey) and 6 Maps the former on heavy quality paper and the later on india paper. VG (Book- Rubbing to leather and crack to front hinge which has had a recent repair of calf leather laid under). Light foxing to prelims, last few pages, a few light finger soiling marks and a couple of small repaired marginal tears. A sound and attractive copy.
