Original Brown Shagreen cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and blind blocked decs to upper and lower boards, 8vo. 230x160mm approx. v + 144 pp. Frontis + 2 plates with tissue guards, 2 illustrations in text, 5 plans (of which one fold out) and one birds eye view. 1883 First edition of the author's history of the Castle which was in effect a re writing of his contribution to Huchins' third Edition of the history of Corfe castle contained in his history of Dorset revised, corrected and considerably enlarged. A book difficult to source with all of its illustrations and other than an ex public library copy. VG (Book- mild shelf wear to cloth - colour loss only, corners of boards rounded, book plate of the Dominican Fathers to front paste down. No other indication of library ownership. Original yellow victorian end papers, no cracks. Preliminary blanks browned by the laying in of plate from another book being, entitled King Edward Killed at Corfe Castle London published by J Mc.Gowan. A few sporadic foxing spots and paper of book block generally age tanned. Corrections and additions at end with a pasted in supplemental). Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale.
