1st ed. 215x145mm approx,blue mottled boards with gilt lettreing,d/j,319 pgs,by the author of The Mission[Hitler's infamous pre-war attempt to sell off German Jews],Countess Tarnovska,A Thousand Shall Fall...etc.Hans Habe is one of Europe's most sucessful and widely read novelists,his 20 books have been translated into 18 languages.This book was the centre of huge controversy in Germany in 1966.The conflict between generations in the context of modern Germany,every young German plays a duel role..here the author forces us to look at these attitudes throught the eyes of young German,himself a ex member of Hitler youth whose father was the director of an anti-semetic film,propoganda film of the Third Reich.The author's experiences render him uniquely qualified to comment on a problem most Germans would wish to ignore[ a compelling psychological study worked into a very interesting novel].
