1847 , Two Volumes , Half Leather, five raised bands, gilt decs. and titles, buckram cloth VOL. I 315pp VOL II lxxvii + viii + 260pp. Virtue's Elegant Edition of The Pilgrims Progress and The Holy War containing A life of the author by Rev. Robert Philip, the author's apology and address containing over 160 woodcuts, illustrations and steel engravings by various artists including Whimper, Rogers and Armytage, fold out hand coloured plan of the road followed by Chrisian. Good ( Moderate to heavy foxing, some occassional page soiling and a few marginal tears. The fold out plan of the road and Bunyan's Will have been carelessly folded resulting in additional creases and edge tears. A few pages have passages underlined in pencil. Binding sound, wear to leather at extrmities with boards exposed at some corners) Attractive and Sound reading copies of Bunyan's works in matching bindings. It appears that the Life of Bunyan has been bound in Vol II with The Holy War to make the volumes of even thickness.
