Undated believe circa 1920's , blind embossed lighter blue decorative boards , bright gilt lettering spine and front , Dust Jacket , illustrated 8 mono plates [ some photo's by author and guide leader] one entitled Peg's baby shows a Victorian pram [ others show - the crew of The Argos , all the guides in a boat , Vicky by a tent , Clarissa , dog called Patch , Peg's cottage , the famous five sat on a fence - Winnie , Ivy , Jessie , Clarissa and Connie ; Angela astride some fencing duplicated in colour on front of the d/j the Girl guide movement early 20th century [ book - med fox / browning to book , fading ink inscsp to fep on inner flap side , exterioir - blind embossed clean lighter wedgwood blue decorative boards , gilt lettering spine and front , bindings sound , VG ] [ D/j - a bit grubby to once white rear , clipped , minor edgewear no significant loss , now in clear protective proprietary cover - shows Angela to front and posibly again as the standing guide on the spine , VG - ]

Red decorative cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and upper panel. 190 x 130 mm approx.192pp. Frontis b/w photo + 7 other monochrome photos as called for.First published in 1927 the copy offered by us is a later printing from the 1930's. One of the "Peg" series of books written for teenagers of adventures in the Girl Guides. The author captained a troop in Walworth/Sydenham and illustrated her books with photographs of girls in her troop giving them fictional names and often setting the stories locally. Good (Book- moderate shelf wear to boards, prize book plate to front paste down, nicks to fore edge of frontis which stands slightly proud of the remainder of the book block. Binding a little floppy but generally sound. No other notable defects). Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale.
