First published in 1917 by the author of "Highways and Byways in the Lake District" and following a similar format to the Macmillan Highways and byways series this is the 3rd impression. The book covers much of East Sussex and West Kent areas including The Cinque Ports, Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings, Brede, Northiam, Lydd, New Romney, Dymchurch, Lympne, Bilington, Ruckinge, Udimore, Bodiam etc etc. VG ( Light shelf wear to extremities - mainly colour loss.Gilt title worn and dulled. Round impressed Ex Libris seal of previous owner to ffep. Browning bands to a few pages probably due to the insertion of newspaper scraps) A sound copy.

Blue Cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front board. t.e.g.466pp + Index and 6 pp of publisher's adverts. 95 illust + fold out map as expected, the former by Joseph Pennell and Hugh Thomson. Sound copy of the ever popular Macmillan "Highways and Byways" Series. VG(no d/j) Some wear to cloth- mainly colour loss with a hint of fraying. Corners rounded. Boards respectably clean with a few speckle marks to bottom front corner.Name of previous owner in ink to pasted down fep. Very slight foxing to endpapers. No cracks to endpapers.

Usual offset browning to free endpapers, no previous owner names or insc. Minor shelf wear to extremities- colour loss only. Slight damp discolouration to fore and top edge margins of boards. (not significant - but worthy of mention).
