A recasting of Brander Matthews volume of the same name published by Coomes - New York 1887. As stated by Lang in his preface- an editor must be meddling and thus he has re-ordered some of the poems by date, omitted some and added others which had escaped Matthew's attention or have subsequently been recommended for inclusion by other bibliophiles.
