A respected biography of Napoleon Bonaparte which was reprinted numerous times. The author also comments on Napoleon's place in history and the extent to which he was shaped by circumstances. The copy offered by us is inscribed by the author, to G W Prothero in ink on the half title page. The book was then gifted to Adolphus William Ward , Master of Peterhouse, Cambridge as a remembrance of him. These two together with S.M. Leathes edited the Cambridge Modern History between 1901 and 1912. Good (Book- Moderate shelf wear to cloth, no notable soiling.Book plate of G W Prothero to front paste down, that of A W Ward to front free end paper and later family book plate overleaf. The author being the founder of the world famous motor museum at Beaulieu. The copy offered by us for sale has the attribute of being inscribed in ink by him and signed M of B. to the front free end paper. Poor(Book- Covers respectably clean and free of any significant shelf wear, Book plate of previous owner to whom the author has inscribed the book to front paste down.Glue and mull has failed between title page and frontis.
